Supervision and Management Fundamentals Accelerator Day

Move from task oversight to coaching, collaboration, and high-impact leadership.

Most new and developing managers are promoted because they were exceptional individual contributors, not because they were trained to lead people. They often get trapped in the middle: managing workloads and putting out fires instead of building self-sufficient teams. This focused, intensive session bridges that gap. Combining the core principles of Synergistic Supervision and Coaching-Infused Supervision, this session gives managers practical tools to move beyond simple task assignment.

Leaders learn how to ask thoughtful questions, align individual strengths with team goals, navigate real-world management struggles, and foster true accountability without taking over problem-solving.

Opens

The session opens by re-framing the supervisory mindset. We address the classic promotion trap, moving from doing the work to leading the work, and establish that effective management is an intentional skill set, not just an administrative duty.

Coaching-infused supervision

Participants explore how to incorporate coaching principles into daily touchpoints. Instead of jumping in to fix every problem, supervisors learn how to ask powerful questions, practice active listening, and build employee confidence while maintaining high standards of performance and accountability.

Pressing issues lab

Over a working lunch, the session surfaces the real-world management struggles participants are currently navigating. For intact teams, this focuses on specific change initiatives or culture shifts. For cross-functional cohorts, we analyze broader pressures like workload distribution or hybrid collaboration, woven directly into the afternoon exercises.

Synergistic supervision

In the afternoon, we focus on creating a collaborative environment where individual strengths directly support organizational goals. Where selected, we integrate an optional LEGO® Serious Play® module, letting managers physically build 3D models of their supervisory goals and map team dynamics.

Concludes with applied practice

Managers test their new coaching and conflict-resolution tools in realistic scenarios, leaving with a finalized supervisory action plan.

What's unique about our approach

We reject the idea that management training should be a passive review of policy manuals or HR compliance slides. Effective supervision is built on human dynamics, clear communication, and adaptable leadership behaviors.

Built on research.

Evidence-based

Grounded in positive psychology and adult learning theory.

Practiced in the room.

Active simulation

We replace passive listening with active simulation, peer debriefs, and real-time issue processing.

Applied to your real work.

Real-world relevance

We address the actual daily friction managers face, weaving in live organizational challenges and optional tactile modeling.

FAQ

Is this session intended for new managers or experienced supervisors?

Both. New managers gain an essential foundation to avoid micromanagement and burnout, while experienced supervisors use the session to reset their approach, adopt modern coaching techniques, and solve stubborn team friction points.

How does the session adapt to our organization's specific challenges?

During the booking process and during the midday Pressing Issues Lab, we tailor the case studies and scenario discussions around your organization's actual ongoing projects, organizational changes, or cultural priorities.

Is LEGO® Serious Play® required for this session?

No. LEGO® Serious Play® is an optional, highly engaging add-on integrated into the afternoon team dynamics block to help managers visually and physically model team goals and supervisory challenges. We customize the facilitation based on your preferences.

What do we need to provide?

A functional meeting space set up for interactive group work, along with access to a screen with audio. We handle all materials, exercise supplies, and facilitation tools.

What impacts the pricing of a Supervision and Management Fundamentals Accelerator Day?

For Supervision and Management Fundamentals Accelerator Days specifically, you have the option to incorporate LEGO®. You can also choose to keep your LEGO® bricks and models at cost. Individual window kit bags are $15 per participant; shared model boxes start at $100 per table. Your group can opt to use and return our LEGO® components instead for no additional charge. There is also a cost per participant for materials, such as worksheets, folders, and other activities we’ll provide. Thus, an Accelerator Day with 100 participants will have a higher cost than an Accelerator Day with 10 participants.
