Change Management Accelerator Day

Learn to lead change by leading through it first.

Most change management training explains a model and hopes it sticks. This one starts differently: your leadership team works through a realistic change simulation together before naming a single concept. From there, the day builds into the theory, the application, and a toolkit your team can use to plan and lead your next real change initiative. Choose the beginner track, the advanced track, or pair both into a two-day experience.

What will you walk away with?

What you'll walk away with

Foundational track

  • A completed change initiative planning toolkit, ready to apply to a real initiative your organization is facing
  • Working knowledge of core change management theory and how it applies in practice
  • Shared language across your leadership team for talking about change and evaluating readiness for it

Advanced track

  • Practical tools for communicating change clearly to different audiences and stakeholder groups
  • A framework for anticipating and working through common forms of resistance
  • Stronger capacity to recognize and respond to the emotional responses change produces in teams

Schedule structure

The beginner day opens with a change simulation before introducing any framework. Your team works through a realistic, high-stakes change scenario as a group, making decisions in real time and living with the consequences before we debrief what happened. Only after that experience do we introduce the underlying theory, so the concepts land against something your team just lived through rather than something abstract.

The advanced day assumes that foundation, whether from the beginner track or from your team’s existing experience, and moves directly into the harder skills: reading and responding to emotional reactions to change, building a communication plan that holds up under pressure, and practicing resistance navigation through structured, role-based scenarios rather than hypothetical discussion.

Both days end the same way: applying what the team just built to a real initiative your organization is currently facing or about to face. Nothing stays hypothetical.

What’s unique about our approach?

We don’t open with a model and ask your team to imagine how it applies. We open with an experience and let the model explain what your team just lived through. That ordering matters. Research on generative learning shows that people retain and apply frameworks far better when they’ve actively worked through the problem the framework is meant to solve, rather than receiving the framework first and hoping it transfers later. The change simulation isn’t a warm-up exercise; it’s the foundation the rest of the day is built on.

The advanced track leans on the same principle for the harder, more human parts of change work. Change management training usually discusses resistance and emotional response as topics to understand. We treat them as skills to practice, which is why the advanced day focuses on role-based scenarios rather than case studies. A leader who has practiced navigating a colleague’s genuine frustration in the room is better prepared than one who has only discussed frustration as a concept.

This concept connects to something we at transform.forward believe more broadly: the how of a learning experience matters as much as the what. We design every detail of these days (the materials, the pacing, the room's physical setup) with the same intention we bring to the content itself.

FAQ

What's the difference between the foundational and advanced tracks?

The foundational track builds base-level change management skills through a simulation-first approach, ending with a completed planning toolkit. The advanced track assumes that foundation and focuses on the harder work of leading other people through change: communication, resistance, and emotional navigation.

Do we need the foundational track before the advanced one?

Not necessarily. If your team already has working knowledge of change management fundamentals, the advanced track stands on its own. If you're not sure which fits, a quick conversation during booking will help us recommend the right starting point.

Can we do both tracks in one visit?

Yes. Many organizations pair the beginner and advanced tracks into a two-day experience, applying both to the same real change initiative throughout.

Is this based on a specific model, like ADKAR or Kotter?

Our approach draws on established change management research and theory rather than teaching a single proprietary model as gospel. We want your team to understand the underlying principles well enough to apply them flexibly, not to memorize a framework they can't adapt.

Who should attend from our organization?

Leadership teams and people leaders get the most out of this day, since the content is built around both deciding on change and helping others move through it. Group size scales from a single leadership team to a broader group of managers.

What impacts the pricing of a Change Management Accelerator Day?

For Change Management Accelerator Days specifically, headcount makes the most impact in price adjustments. This session scales easily, and the price per participant is based on the amount of materials and facilitators needed to work with your group.
